Correspondence and legal and business papers pertain to national and local politics, land administration and sales, and the Grange movement. Topics addressed in correspondence include flood control of the lower Mississippi River, levees, education in Louisiana, and Louisiana elections. The collection includes a broadside soliciting assistance of Grangers to complete construction of the Washington Monument (1875); a U.S. military railroad map; bills, receipts and tax documents (1848-1924); newspaper clippings; notebooks; photographs (one of Hardy Richardson); and personal items including recipes.
